Windows 11 (and Windows 10) not finding imageFORMULA DR-C125

I have a DR-C125 that I've owned for years that no longer communicates with two of my computers even when I try USB cables that work just fine with other devices.  I've uninstalled the device via Device Manager and reinstalled drivers/software numerous times to no avail.  The scanner powers up just fine.

Could the scanner be dead?  I suppose so, but why?

Hi,

The DR-C125 will not be supported with Windows 11 or with any newer versions of Windows that may come. The model was retired in 2019, two years before Windows 11 was released.

For the Windows 10 computer, I recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the driver and the software. To uninstall the driver and software, please do the following:

  1. Make sure that the scanner is off and disconnected from the computer.
  2. Make sure that the computer is on.
  3. Hold down the WINDOWS KEY (next to the CTRL button) on your keyboard, and then press the letter R button.
  4. When the run window opens, type the words “Control Panel” (without the parentheses) and click OK.
  5. When the computer’s Control Panel opens, click on the UNINSTALL A PROGRAM option under Programs (if the panel is being displayed in the Category view) or PROGRAMS AND FEATURES (if the Large or Small Icons view is selected).
  6. Look for any programs that were developed by Canon or that start with the word “Canon.”
  7. Right-click on the CaptureOnTouch program, and select UNINSTALL.
  8. Follow the instructions to uninstall the program.
  9. Right-click on the ISIS/TWAIN driver for the DR-C125, and select UNINSTALL.
  10. Follow the instructions to uninstall the driver.
  11. When the driver is uninstalled, close the Control Panel window.
  12. If you are asked to restart the computer, do that. If not, restart the computer anyway.

Once you uninstall the CaptureOnTouch program and the ISIS/TWAIN driver, you can visit our website to download the driver. First you will have to download and reinstall the DR-C125 ISIS/TWAIN Driver Version 1.2 SP4 from the following website:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/scanners/support-document-scanner/...

Please note that the DR-C125 ISIS/TWAIN Driver is listed under Recommended Drivers. After the driver has finished installing, you can download and install the DR-C125 CaptureOnTouch Version 2.8 program from the following website:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/scanners/support-document-scanner/...

When you are done installing, please restart your computer. Then, reconnect the USB cable and turn the scanner on. After that, open the CaptureOnTouch program and use it to scan a document.

if the problem continues, it is recommended that you download and run the Restoration Tool for Windows Registry. This tool will search for and correct any issues that may be causing this error. The tool can be downloaded from the following website:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/scanners/support-document-scanner/...

Once the tool is downloaded, please do the following:

  1. Double-click on the RepairReg.exe file to run the utility. The following dialog box will appear:

  1. Click the START button.

The utility will investigate and determine if there are any inconsistencies and resolve them if found.

I wound up calling Canon support and we went through these things, I tried a couple of different USB cables and both Windows 10 and 11 computers, but nothing worked.  It appears my scanner is dead.
