I just received my Canoscan LiDE 400, to be used with a Macbook Air running Tahoe 26.2. After installing the Canon software package I could not get IJ Scan Utility Lite to recognize the scanner, and found that Apple Image Capture had automatically hijacked it. It scanned but then showed no way to save the photo. In any case, I want to use the Canon software and any information I've found about disabling Image Capture is quite old. It's so aggravating when you have to spend hours trying to get something to work that should be simple---good luck to me, I guess. I'm really hoping someone will know something about this.

To save from image capture, hit the "Scan" button, the file will be saved under the name in the filename box:
As to using the Canon software, I don't see a way to change it from ImageCapture, the little three dots don't show up in the toolbar when I select my scanner. However, Image capture does not prevent me from using other software like Preview. Have you tried running IJScan directly?
