Scanner Lide 220 -- double scan result

I own a Canon Lide 220 and am happy with it.
Suddenly it makes a double pdf document.
My method is Canon IJ Scan Utility > Document.
My config is Settings > Device > PDF.
It makes a B&W document, A4, 300 dpi, called IMG, saved in folder Scanned, Data Format is PDF (Multiple Pages), Send to folder Scanned.
When I set the Data Format to only PDF, it still makes two PDF documents. Also same result when I use the PC. 
I have never experienced this before, and have not found any settings that could cause it.
I have not done a re-install yet, which could possibly be a solution.
Please help.

Hi arthurcerew,

When the Data Format of the Document button is set to "PDF (Multiple Pages)", every time a page is scanned you are prompted to Scan or Exit, correct?  And after all pages are scanned, they are all combined into a single PDF, saved in  your "Scanned" folder?  But the issue is that there are 2 copies of that saved PDF?
