Canon ImageFormula R40 Scanner no longer scanning--TWAIN error

jbunshaft

I have loved my R40 scanner, but now it won't work. I use the Canon-supplied software, both the driver and the CaptureOnTouch software. Recently, when I've tried to use it, I get "An error has occurred with the TWAIN driver. [Error: 80FF0001]" and that's it.

I've tried re-installing the driver. I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it. I've tried uninstalling all the Canon software and re-installing the whole software package. Nothing has made it work. Someone, please help! Thank you.

NO. It is an issue in W10 ^ W11.

for W10 at lelast, any new install and reboot works for a few days  so that is not a way to evaluate.

The more I think about this, the more I am convinced that the driver is junk.

I am currently having the same issue as the other with my Canon scanner. It gives me this error message 80FF0001. It will work after uninstalling and reinstalling several times but will stop working again. Why is this happening and what solution has worked for the rest of you. I don't want to have to go through this every time.

Nothing has worked, and I still have a non-working scanner. Is Canon working on a solution? If someone said, "we know, and we should have a patch in a week or two" (or whatever timeframe), that at least would give me some hope for tackling the mounting pile of paper I haven't been able to scan.

No solution has worked for me. I've done everything suggested on here. Seems the only solution is going to be when Canon stands by their product and puts out a new driver or patch, so it works again. For now, the scanner is sitting here, doing nothing.

This is a problem. I didn’t spend all this money on a scanner for it not to be working properly and Canon doesn’t have a solution in place to resolve these issues with their product. So, this will hinder my business drastically🤦🏽‍♀️

From wherever you bought it, file a negative review - especially if on Amazon.

Thanks, and that’s where i purchased it from Amazon

I called tech support yesterday, got right in, the rep gave me a procedure that has worked for me so far:

1. turn on the scanner

dont bother to un-install/re-install the driver.

2 restart computer.

I did this and the issue was no more (for now)

for the record running win11 pro

God; but notice that this is consistent with all other reports, that after a reboot, it works fine for a few days...

Wait & see.
