Canon 9000F Mark II Scanner Driver Can't See Scanner

Nhtq

I have a computer running Windows 11 ver 22H2. I download the 9000F MarkII Scanner Driver Ver. 1.02 (Windows) from https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/canoscan-9000f-mark-ii. Under the "More download info" link it says support for Windows 11 was added. I also tried using the 1.00 version with the same conclusion.

However, when I install the driver, using the instructions provided the driver never finishes because it doesn't ever find the scanner.

The scanner shows in Windows device Manager, so it's communicating with the computer. In addition I installed VueScan to test and the scanner, and the scanner works perfectly with Vuescan. This means there's not a faulty port, not a faulty cable, and Windows is able to see the scanner. There appears to be an issue with the Canon driver.

I'd greatly appreciate any help getting this running.

Best Regards,
Nhtq

Hi! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that you are unable to install the scanner driver for your CanoScan 9000F Mark II on your Windows 11 computer.

You also mention that the scanner is being detected by your computer’s Device Manager and the VueScan program installed on your computer. This means that the printer is being detected by your computer.

The program that installs the scanner driver needs to detect the scanner. If it does not, the scanner driver will not install. Security programs have been known to interfere with the install program. If that is happening, the program will not be able to find the scanner when it starts searching for it.

I recommend that you check to see if any security programs are running on your computer. The most common programs that will interfere with the driver installation are Anti-Virus programs.

We have been able to install the scanner driver on standalone Windows 11 computers that do not have security programs installed on them. If you do have a security program installed on your computer, please contact the manufacturer of that program for help. Please let them know you need an exception made for the program that installs the scanner driver.

I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.

Hello,

I have the same problem with Windows 11 using a Canoscan 9000F mark II . I uninstalled a anti virus program and the program still says unable to detect scanner. I used vuescan and was able to scan documents.

Please help. I'd appreciate any help to get the driver installed.

Hi bobpeniel,

Please open Device Manager and remove the 9000F from the list.

Once you have removed it, please disconnect the USB cable.

Next, download the latest driver:

1. Please click this link: Canon Support for CanoScan 9000F MKII - Downloads

2. Click on Software & Drivers.

3. Choose "Windows" from the Operating System drop down and then "Windows 11" from the Version drop down.

4. Click the Download button to the right of "9000F MarkII Scanner Driver Ver. 1.02 (Windows)". Note: you may have to click the "Load More" button to locate this.

5. Once that file finishes, please open or run that file to begin the installation on your computer. If you have to search for the file first, the files name is: "mp68-win-9000fii-1_02-ea32_2.exe"

6. Follow the on screen prompts to reinstall.

Reconnect the USB cable when the installation searches for your CanoScan 9000F MKII.

Hi Patrick,

I followed everything that was suggested and It still says scanner not detected in the last step of the installation .

Hi bobpeniel,

When you opened Device manager to remove it, what was is listed under?  Other Devices?  Imaging Devices?

I am having the same experience.  Windows is pulling the 9000f in immediately but the driver install will not recognize the device.  Have been working at this for over an hour.  I have uninstalled the driver etc etc at least 3 times.  The Windows driver is very old.  (2006) but when I aim to update the driver in the Canon downloads folder "Windows has determined that thebest driver for this device is already installed".  There may be better drivers on the device manufacturers website."
I see that the driver dates are more like 2012

Just did it again.  Windows immediately sets up Device CanoScan, but max resolution is 600 dpi (this is supposed to be 9600dpi capable)
The Canon installers never find the Scanner.

Turns out the Scanner is not the Mark II.  There is another Download Page for 9000f (not Mark-II)

Apologies for complaining it would not install.  Seems to be working as well as it will now.
