Brand new scanner LIDE 300 horizontal stripe

I have a 2 week-old Canonscanner LIDE300 That is producing scans with a purple horizontal stripe along the edge.  Is this correctable or do I just return it? It's very faint and I could probably live with it but I use the scanner for art.  I would rather not. The first picture included shows the scan unenhanced.  The stripe is barely visible.  The second is enhanced to clearly show the stripe.  If this is a hardware problem, will it get worse if not addressed?  I'm afraid if I buy another unit, it will have the same problem so I would like to learn how to correct this.    doc_20250910_0002.jpgDemo.jpg

Having received no replies, I bought another LIDE300 hoping it would be better.  It was.  I'd delete this post but the delete option doesn't respond.
