XF605 Professional Camcorder - Is the lens hood mount removable?

clw1

Hello,

Does anyone know if the mount for the lens hood is removable on XF605? I bought the camera several years ago and I believe the mount came on it, because I just added the hood and never thought about it again. It lives in my studio, so maybe doesn't need the hood, but I never took it off. Now I have taken it off and find this mount is there, seemingly immovable.

I bought an Elgato teleprompter and would really like to mount it on the lens. Elgato comes with different mounting options, none of which seem to work with this camera other than the "universal" one that must be placed precariously in front of the camera with a little piece of fabric to block the light.

I've tried twisting the lens hood mount off to see if it just screws on, but it doesn't budge, and I don't want to break it. The lens mount for Elgato needs to access the same threads the lens cap uses.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very appreciative. Here are both product links:

Greetings clw1,

The lens hood on the Canon XF605 camcorder can be removed. There is a lock screw that is located on the side which would have to be loosened before the lens hood can be rotated and removed from the camcorder. You may refer to page 28 of the user guide where you may follow the steps in reverse from what it shows for how to mount the lens hood onto the camcorder.

Hi Natalya,
Thank you for your response. The lens hood is already removed. I am asking about the mount for it; the plastic ring with threads that the hood twists into and then attaches with the screw. It looks like it should twist off, making the actual lense front more accessible (it needs to be flush with the prompter all the way around). Does that make sense?
