XA75 How to manually reproduce Sports exposure settings

rjtampa

Hello,

The Canon XA75 has a Sports exposure setting. How can I use Manual settings to match the values of the Sports exposure. Two reasons for asking. I have another camera that I would like to use and duplicate the settings. The 2nd reason is that I want to tweak this on the XA75. The videos are clear up to 40 feet. However, they become blurry past 40 feet.  The sports arena that I'm filming in is up to 100ft. I need to get better clarity past 40 feet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks

Greetings rjtampa,

The Sports mode on the camcorder is a great shooting mode for capturing fast moving subjects. The camcorder will automatically adjust its shooting settings like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO / gain to optimize the camcorder to shoot action in motion. Unfortunately, there are no specific settings for Sports mode that can be provided since the camcorder may make internal adjustments while shooting depending on what it sees through the lens.

There are settings that you can adjust manually yourself that may resemble settings used in the Sports mode. The main setting is the shutter speed. Recording sports will usually have a faster shutter speed. For video, we would suggest shooting with a shutter speed of at least 1/60 or faster. Depending on the lighting in your environment, you may need to open up the aperture to let as much light travel through the lens, like f/2.8. This would then leave room to adjust the gain where it may not be necessary to increase it as high and that would prevent from the camera creating too much noise. The main key to keep in mind is a faster shutter speed for recording sports.
