Using custom LUTs with C80

I’m interested in the Canon C80, but it seems like there’s some basic features that would make this camera frustrating to use.

I’ve read that it’s not possible to playback with the monitoring LUT. You can only playback log footage. Has this been fixed? Will this be fixed?

Are you able to shoot with a custom LUT in XFAVC without baking in the LUT? From what I can tell the only non-destructive option is to turn on “view assist” which will get a 709 look on your monitor, but if I have a custom LUT can I view that while shooting and not bake it into the footage? It looks like you can upload a LUT into the custom picture profiles, but that bakes in the LUT. (This workflow should work when shooting raw without baking in the LUT since its raw)

does anyone have answers to these? On paper this seems like a perfect camera to pair with a ronin, but it seems to be missing basic features.

Greetings SeanMou,

The EOS C80 will not allow for users to apply a LUT to footage for viewing purpose only when the file is viewed in the playback mode. If the footage was recorded in Canon Log, then the video will display that Custom Picture profile when played back on the camera. For RAW files that were shot with a LUT, the file will play without the LUT applied, and only the thumbnail of the video file will display the look of the LUT that was used. For shooting with XFAVC, the LUT used will be baked into the footage.
