How to get Canon XA15 to record continuously

When recently recording a high school play, my SD broke the recording up into various files.  How do I go about having it record nonstop without these interruptions?

Your camcorder has a maximum file size limit of 4GB.   However, even though multiple files are used, playback on the camera will be continuous (see page 38 of the User Manual).

There are software solutions that would allow you to take all those separate files and merge into one physical file.  One being what Canon calls out on page 110 of the User Manual.
