On a new C80, I have the Control Ring in the menus set to adjust Iris. At first when I set this, it worked fine. Then later, it did not. Did I unwittingly change another setting elsewhere that made it so the control ring (not dial, the dials are fine) will not adjust?
I tried with different settings (ISO, WB, etc) and different lenses (Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 L, Canon RF 85mm f/2, and Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 L) to no avail. It just doesn't change a setting. It functions fine when in the menus, or having something selected to change, but not to simply adjust Iris.

I think you'll find this is the issue - "control ring" refers to the one on the lens. The ones on the camera are the "rear control dial", "select dial", and "front control dial". See manual pages 13-14.

I have the control ring on my C80 permanently set to iris, and it works fine for me. The only reason I could think of that it wouldn't work (other than just changing the control ring setting) would be if you put the camera into auto-iris mode, which is the very first setting in the very first menu page.
When shooting, is there an "A" beside the f/ number in the LCD? (Bottom of the LCD, just right of centre).
See also manual page 72.

Double checked, and Iris is indeed set to manual. The auto-iris button functions as expected, and Iris will not change on it's own. No A next to it. I should mention that the outer ring on the lens will adjust Iris. I just got in a second C80, changed no settings apart from setting the control ring. Same result.
I updated firmware on the first camera, no change. I have to assume it has something to do with the lens (the three mentioned in my first post) but that wouldn't make sense that it did work and then later it did not.

Sorry, I'm not understanding this: "I should mention that the outer ring on the lens will adjust Iris.". When you said "control ring", this normally refers to the ring on the lens which is farthest from the camera -- what I might call the "outer-most ring". This is what should be controlling your iris, if the control ring is set to iris.
So if it is indeed working -- then what's the problem?

The lens outer-most ring works for adjusting iris, correct.
What I am referring to is the control ring on the back of the C80 body. The one that is used to move about the menu. In the menu there are three settings that can be changed, control dial on the front by the record button. the rear control dial next to the auto-iris button. And the control ring further down, with the set button in the middle.
Maybe I am misunderstanding that the setting in the menu is for the lens and not the body? Re-reading the manual it seems that may be the case. I see in other areas it calls that the Select dial.

This is clearly the case. I was misinterpreting Control ring and my coworker was doing the same. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
