Hi. Trying to assign the first 5 buttons to function as the joystick (so i can get rid of the side grip) but for some reason i can't see the up, left, down etc function on the assign button menu (they actually should be at the end after 'Initialize Media'). I've checked the firmware and it's up to date. Anybody have any recommendations?

Hello greenlit,
I noticed that you have the camera in [Playback] mode. These functions (assignable button items you are looking for) are not available in [Media] mode.

The thing is that it doesn't change on the Camera mode - i still don't see them in the assignable button menu.

There are only a select number of buttons that you can use for assignable button options. You won't be able to reassign buttons on the directional pad to have other functions.

@Nick2020 No it's the other way around. Have you read the original message? I'm trying to use the cam without the side grip - and in order to do that i have to assign the joystick functions to the assignable buttons

You can assign them to the number pad on the back of the camera. In the menu there’s an option in the drop down list for something called user assigned or similar. I did this when I had it on a gimbal.

That's exactly what i tried to do - in this case you can't assign them to any buttons. Previous C100 that I've owned i was able to do it - this one doesn't even show the joystick functions on the assignable button menu

And firmware is up to date?

The firmware shows up as 8.0.1.1.00 - though the official firmware is 1.0.8.1.00. But i'm getting the your firmware is already up to date banner when i try to update it. As a side note 8.0.1.1.00 was never a firmware version that has ever been released for c100 so i have no idea what's going on there

Greetings,
The C100 mkI did not include DPAF originally.
If you have this hardware then FW 1.8.0.1.1.00 was applicable.
Canon CPS offered an upgrade where you sent the camera in to received sensor upgrade. This sensor included DPAF and allowed the mkI to be updated to v2.0.8.1.00. Later 2.0.9.1.00 was released.

To my knowledge the sensor upgrade is no longer being offered, but you can check with support to see if this this is still available.
