EOS C100 Unable to assign up, down, left, right functions to other buttons

Hi. Trying to assign the first 5 buttons to function as the joystick (so i can get rid of the side grip) but for some reason i can't see the up, left, down etc function on the assign button menu (they actually should be at the end after 'Initialize Media'). I've checked the firmware and it's up to date. Anybody have any recommendations?

This post is not about DPAF though

Agree. The issue that I'm seeing with your hardware is that it doesn't seem to be listing a valid firmware.  I suppose it could be a glitch but, it not having the 1. proceeding the actual firmware listed is partially suspect as to what may have been done to this camera.  Are you the original owner?  If not do you have history about the camera?

^Yup - i agree. It's weird to say the least. I'm not the original owner and don't know the history. And as far as i know nobody would've been able to construct a custom fw for this camera. Just no idea what's going on with that.

Are you on 1.0.8.1.00 ? That’s the last for non DPAF available.  That’s indeed strange if you can’t assign them. I did notice when I tried to assign button 1 vs button 2, it had less options… so maybe look at that… for my firmware 2.0.9.1 (DPAF) ive assigned like this which I find very helpful.  Also this did help me realise the internal battery was flat and all my settings were gone… if that happens you need to leave it plugged into mains for 24 hours to recharge the internal battery…
