Canon R5C x Ronin RS2 - stop working the REC/FOCUS compatibility via USB-C.

Hello there.

I've been using the R5C for video for a while and always used the Ronin RS2 via USB-c tu use the function REC and Pull Focus (on ronin) on Video Mode. The last time this setup worked fine was in september, since this date I didn't use this setup until days ago when this USB-C communication stop working.

I've tried several tips to solve this: 1) Torn Off/On both devices. 2) Changed usb cables. 3) Updated firmware both devices. 4) Review the configuration in both devices to check anything was off.

First thing to mention, if I set the R5C to Photo Mode, the communication between Camera and Ronin turns On and the function of pull focus start workin. But as soon I change to Video Mode, the communication between Camera and Ronin turns Off.

Second thing I noticed, when I connect the Camera to the Ronin via usb-c in Video mode, several settings are disabled to change, like frame rate, rec format, resolution, etc...

Hope someone can help me with this one. Regards

Greetings,

In order to troubleshoot effectively, this was not a good time to upgrade the firmware's on your body and accessory.

What firmwares were you on previously and what firmware versions did you upgrade to?

If it worked previously, nothing in the setup should keep it from working as it has before.  You also indicated that you're able to pull focus in photo mode.  I assume you can release the shutter as well?

DJI does not list support for the R5 C with the RS2 but I understand, sometimes things can work.  Were you using the same lens or a different one previously?

Sounds like a communication issue.  Good idea trying a different cable.  😉

Do you have any new accessories connected to the body or gimbal?  What are you using for power?  If internal, is the battery Canon brand? Either 6NH or 6P?

Do you have a USB C-PD or Vmount battery available for testing?  Do these work (show) when connected to the USB C port in cinema OS?

Something appears to have changed, just trying to help you figure out what that is.  (Besides firmware) As you cannot go back now.

Hello there.

Don't know the versions of previous firmware.

When camera is in Photo Mode, only the focus pull works. The REC button on gimbal didn't perform shutter.

Was using the camera with the same lens. For power I use LP-6NH. Yes, I have vmount and they are working normally via usb-c pd in Cinema OS.
