I'm hoping there's some secret setting I am missing, but the C70 was able to do S&F with B card audio to the at 120fps, but the C80 caps at 60. This seems like an odd step backwards, so I am hoping I just need to enable some setting to allow this shooting mode. Is there any way to accomplish this?
We shoot in XF-HVEC S YCC422 10 bit, Clog 3 at both 4k and 2k. Audio wise we utilize the mini-xlr inputs.

Greetings,
That is correct No audio (with video) can be recorded in S&F mode above 60FPS on the C80. It appears to be due to the C80 not having a CF ExpressB slot. The C70 does and so does the R5 C, C400 and C500 mkII. This limitation is as designed in order to avoid a processing bottleneck. There is not a setting to change, sorry. 😐
You can record audio (only) in S&F at 120FPS (C80) to the second card, but it would have to be synced in post.
See pages 114 ~ 117 in the user guide.

Sorry, no, the C70 has 2 SD slots, same as the C80.
It does really seem that this is a step backwards, which is a bit sad. I have no idea why they did this, but it really does seem like a retrograde step.

Hm, are you sure? As far as I can see, the 2nd card mode "A Main / B Audio Rec" is disabled in slow and fast mode. I think the poster is asking about the "Recording Mode: S&F" option "S&F Clip / Audio WAV", which the C70 had up to 120 FPS, but the C80 caps out at 60.
I see what you're saying about the manual, but I think it's just a bit confusingly written. The note "1 To record audio, insert an SD card into the card slot where video is not being recorded" I think only applies to "S&F Clip / Audio WAV" mode. As far as I can see, no audio is recorded when you're in S&F at 120FPS.
So I don't know of any way to record audio at all on the C80 above 60 FPS. But do correct me if I've missed something.

Likely just one of the many Canon cripple hammer moves.
I'm also baffled why they removed view assist during playback on the C80 without any explanation or reason.

Ian,
Thanks for correcting me. C70 has 2 x SD's 🫣 So it's likely the processor bandwidth of the 6k full frame sensor. The manual is confusing. Due to wording, I took it to mean audio only could be recorded at 120. Thanks for clarifying.

There is no secret setting on the C80 that allows for audio recording with S&F shooting at 120fps. Unlike the C70, the C80's design caps audio recording at 60fps for high frame rate shooting, a limitation that is a notable difference between the two models. This is a firmware and hardware limitation, not a user-configurable setting.
