My printer suddenly stopped being able to "see" the ink cartridges and gave me error code 1412. All the inks were lit and the next step was to contact customer support. I called Cannon Support and they believe ithe "EU only" ink cartridge is causing the problem with my printer. They are replacing all the ink I purchased that was marked this way. These are still sold on Amazon by the "Canon Store". Buyer beware. I just have my fingers crossed that the new ink will fix the problem.

I would be surprised if that is your problem, since I have "EU Only" marked cartridges and my printer works fine.
If you study the icon closely it is a trash can with an "X" across it, meaning don't throw in the trash, but that prohibition only applies in the EU.
