i have a warning popped up on my computer and laptop which states that "the maximum number of computers that are monitoriing the device has been exceeded" "polling to the device will be stopped" "to restart polling, set in the [Configuration] menu again after a moment" I have a Canon Imageclass 753cdw, but i i only have about 6 or 7 computers/laptops and mobile devices which are expecting to be able to print to this. 1) how do i determine the number of devices connected to this and 2) if i have devices which are not mine (I live in a retirement community and it is possible that somewhere close to us can see it, though i have my own private router) how do i protect it? 3) would powering down the printer and bringing it back online resolve this? I can uninstall the canon app from my 2 mobile devices, but even with these, i should only have 6 or 7 devices capable of accessing it, and from what i read, one does not exceed the maximum until you hit 10. Or maybe i just don't understand what this error message is trying to tell me. My system includes a Dell desktop computer, running Windows 11, a Lenovo laptop running windows 11, an iPad, current OS, an android phone current OS and an older Samsung tablet. My wifi router is an xfinity rounter.

Greetings,
If you have your own ISP and router, the fact that you live in a retirement community is not a factor. This message displays when you have more that 10 devices connecting to the printer. You can uncheck the checkbox in the Scanner Selector which reduces the number of monitored devices. However, in your case, you should not be seeing this error with less that 10 devices, if your network is truly isolated as you describe.
You appear to have a correct understanding of the function. Let's gather some additional information. Who is the ISP? (internet provider) What is the brand and model of your router? Are you sharing your Wi-Fi with anyone?
What operating systems (version and build) are you using with the printer? Windows, Mac, Android, iOS? etc.
First step is power cycling your network equipment. Start with the modem if you have one, wait a few minutes, then cycle the router. Another thing you might want to consider is assigning a static IP to the printer on your router. I can advise more when you reply.
