TC-20 poor print quality

Aashishkebab

I bought a brand new TC-20. This has no scanner.

Print quality of text is awful when printed from an Android device (it's fine on iOS and Windows). It looks extremely low resolution and edges are not sharp at all.

Hi Aashishkebab! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that when you print text with your imagePROGRAF TC-20M the letters are not sharp.

You also asked how the automatic print head alignment works. When you perform the alignment, the printer will automatically adjust the print head while the pattern is printing out. It does have a sensor inside that automatically checks the pattern and adjusts.

A print head alignment is normally done when you see white vertical streaks (from the top of the page to the bottom). It does not correct fuzzy printing or horizontal streaks (from the left to right side).

If you are seeing vertical streaks and the automatic print head alignment is not working, you can try a manual alignment. The instructions for that procedure are in the following section of the User Manual:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/UG/ug_e006.html

If you are seeing horizontal streaks, it may be some of the nozzles in the print head are clogged (dry). For that, we recommend cleaning the print head nozzles and deep cleaning them (if the cleaning does not help). Information about the Cleaning and Deep Cleaning procedure can be found in the following page:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/UG/ug_e000.html

For printing that is not sharp, we would normally ask if the Printer Driver has been installed on the computer. If you have not installed the Printer Driver, you can download and install it from the following website:

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageprograf-tc-20

When that page opens, you can click on the Software and Drivers symbol to the right of the picture of the printer. Then, make sure that the correct operating system and version in the Downloads section. Then, you can look for the Driver.

For Windows computers, scroll down and click on Load More. Then, look for the File named TC-20 Printer Driver (the current version is 5.90).

For Mac computers, scroll down and look for the imagePROGRAF TC-20 CUPS Printer Driver (the current version is 26.10.0.0)

If the Driver has been installed, we recommend that you check the paper settings (Media Type) at the printer and on your computer. If Auto is selected for the Media on your computer, the paper type setting on the printer is used.

For information on setting the Paper Type on your printer, please visit the following page:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TC-20M/EN/LBGA/lbga_b101.html

For information on checking the print settings on your computer, please visit the following pages:

Windows computer: (For the media type, see step 4.)

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/PrinterDriver/W/TC-20M/1.0/EN/PPG/dg-c_basic.html

Mac computer: (For the media type, see step 6.)

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/PrinterDriver/M/TC-20M/1.0/EN/PPG/dg-c_basic.html

It is important to select the correct Media Type. If the wrong type is selected (on your computer or at the printer), the image and text quality will not appear as it should.

I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.

Hi,

It only prints poorly on Android. The print quality is great from PC and iPhone, it's an Android-related Canon print bug.
