Hey guys, I just bought a Pro-100 from a guy who'd had it for several years. He printed two photos when I arrived to complete the deal, but now that I've gotten it home it won't feed paper from either the rear slot or manual feed slot. The rollers turn in the rear slot but the paper is never picked up. I cleaned the rollers but when it came to the part of the cleaning process where it wanted to feed 3 sheets of paper it stopped....because it can't grab the paper. I got it to actually feed two pieces of photo paper last night, but I don't know what I did differently when it worked. Aside from that it just won't pull in the paper. It's going in all the way, but it's like the rollers aren't close enough to the paper to grab it. I hear them turning, so it's like the printer THINKS it's trying to do what it's supposed to, but it doesn't. I can't get the manual feed tray to do anything; when I try printing from it, the rollers never turn, the paper never moves and it immediately gives me the two amber light flash (paper path error). I get the three amber light flash on the rear tray every time (no paper in the machine). I can't figure out why this doesn't work. I'm running Mac OSX 15.1 (Sequoia), and I downloaded the latest driver from Canon (date of the driver upload was sometime in mid-2025. Any ideas? I've done everything the Youtube community has suggested (so far), and I'm almost to the point of disassembling the printer to see why the rollers aren't touching the paper. Thanks for any suggestions you might have!

Hi ambocamper66! Thanks for contributing to the Canon community. I see that your PIXMA PRO-100 is not picking up the paper that you are loading from either the rear tray or the manual feed tray.
The Roller Cleaning option that is available in the printer properties window works independent of the driver and software installed on your computer. It is designed to clean the rollers and then test them (by feeding three sheets of paper). If the test fails, that means that there is a mechanical issue at the printer.
We do recommend performing the Roller Cleaning up to three times. If it is still not loading the three sheets of paper after the third attempt, you can try manually cleaning the rollers. You will find information on how you can use a moistened cotton swab to clean the rollers in the following section of the printer's online manual:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/W/PRO-100S%20series/EN/BG/bg-maintenance2400.html
After you have finished cleaning the rollers with the cotton swab, the manual does ask you to clean the rollers from the computer one more time. When it comes time to load the three sheets of paper, please load regular letter-size copy paper. You can visit the following section of the manual for information on how you should load paper in the rear tray:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/W/PRO-100S%20series/EN/BG/bg-loading1300.html
If the mechanical test of the printer (roller cleaning) fails (paper jams or does not feed), that means the printer itself is not working properly. Either something is broken or has stopped working.
If the printer is able to load the sheets of copy paper, but is not loading the other paper that you have, please look at the list of recommended media available in the manual and check that your paper meets the criteria. You will find the recommended media information on this page:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/W/PRO-100S%20series/EN/BG/bg-loading1600.html
You should also look at the load limit information to see how many sheets of paper you can load in the paper tray. Here is a link to that information:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/W/PRO-100S%20series/EN/BG/bg-loading1610.html
If you have a question about the paper that you are using, please write back and provide the paper name, manufacturer, and weight (thickness) information.
Canon does not have repair centers. If the printer require service, you can use any shop that repairs electronics or printer. You may be able to find one by searching for "printer repair" or "electronics repair" near your zip code.
Should you prefer to buy a new printer instead of pay for a repair, Canon can offer you a discount towards that purchase and free shipping. For more information on the discount, please call toll-free 1 (866) 443-8002 from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday to speak with one of our sales agents. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
I hope this information helps. Thanks again.

Seems to me that the "smoking gun" here is being transported. I'm guessing something came loose in transit, and based upon your description it sounds like the roller "grabbing" (extension) gearing isn't really moving the mechanism as designed. If it were mine I would disassemble and look for something amiss - aka
"If the mechanical test of the printer (roller cleaning) fails (paper jams or does not feed), that means the printer itself is not working properly. Either something is broken or has stopped working."
"Broken" may or may not be wholly accurate. A nylon gear could be truly broken or just misaligned or perhaps there is a belt in there (I do NOT know) that is broken. Seems like it's worth a look-see to me.
