I reloaded paper tray in my Pixma 6420 and got error code 7700.  Message said to turn off printer and contact customer service. ?????  LindaMI

did not help/copier wouldn't let me go to the menu

I suspect you have a very bad print cartridge and the printer is not going to function with that error until you replace it or them. The print head(s) for your printer are on the cartridges, it is the only possible fix the printer owner has as seen here:
