PIXMA PRO-200S – Top Feed Won’t Reliably Pick Up 5x7 Red River Aurora Art White 300 (Support Code 10

Hi everyone,

I’m having a recurring feed issue with my Canon PIXMA PRO-200S and heavy cardstock, and I’m hoping to hear from other PRO-200/PRO-200S users (and Canon) about whether this is normal behavior or a hardware problem.

I’m printing from a Mac using the Canon driver (not AirPrint), top feed only.

Papers I’m using (both Red River):

  • Pecos River Gloss 360

    • Size: 5x7

    • Weight: 360 gsm / 96 lb

    • Thickness: 16 mil
      → This paper feeds and prints great from the top tray. No issues.

  • Aurora Art White 300

    • Size: 5x7

    • Weight: 300 gsm

    • Thickness: 18 mil ( This is where the problems start.)

With 5x7 Aurora Art White 300, the printer will fail to pick up the sheet about 9 times out of 10. Occasionally it will grab and print successfully, but most of the time the printer tries to feed and then throws:

Support Code 1000 – There is no paper in the top feed.

However:

  • Plain 8.5x11 copy paper feeds perfectly from the same top tray.

  • 5x7 Pecos River Gloss 360 (16 mil) also feeds fine.

  • The issue seems very specific to this 5x7, 18 mil Aurora 300 stock.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Loading single sheets and very small stacks

  • Making sure sheets are perfectly flat, no curl or bent corners

  • Adjusting side guides so they’re snug but not bending the paper

  • Confirming paper size and media type in the driver are correct

  • Running Feed Roller Cleaning from the Canon utility (no-wipe cleaning)

  • Testing with plain paper after cleaning – it feeds normally

Red River lists Aurora Art White 300 as compatible with the PRO-200 series, and Canon’s own specs say the printer supports heavyweight fine art and cardstock. Given that it handles Pecos River Gloss 360 (16 mil) but struggles with Aurora 300 (18 mil), I’m wondering:

  1. Has anyone else experienced this with Red River Aurora Art White 300 or other heavy fine art/cardstock on the PRO-200 / PRO-200S (especially 5x7)?

  2. Is this feed behavior within “normal” tolerance for this model, or does it sound like a top-feed roller/separation pad issue that needs service?

  3. If the PRO-200S just isn’t ideal for 5x7 18 mil fine art stock, is there another Canon model that reliably handles 5x7 heavy cardstock (around 300 gsm / 18 mil) from a user’s experience?

Any tips on:

  • Specific loading techniques for this paper

  • Driver settings that have helped

  • Or confirmation that your PRO-200/PRO-200S does feed this paper fine

…would be really helpful before I decide whether to pursue a repair or look at a different printer.

Happened to see this as I was looking for similar solutions as to why my Red River Linen card stock 5*7 was also not feeding well this week. I have the Pro 200. And I have also done the roller cleaning thinking that was the problem. I did test an Aurora natural 250 5x7 sample card today and it seemed to feed ok (single sheet top feed). Also on a Mac, not using air print driver (v29) on Sequoia 15.6.1, nothing set specifically for thickness, Matte paper selected on the Printer settings. I did find this article on the Red River site that may help you if you haven’t already looked there. It talks about potentially using the paper abrasion setting. Tips for Feeding Inkjet Papers

Where you able to resolve it and if so how? I was thinking about testing the Aurora Art White 🙂

I came across the same help article you shared and watched the linked video tips. It turns out the solution is simply to feed the paper one sheet at a time, applying a bit more pressure than feels comfortable. It’s been working without any issues, and there’s been no damage to the paper or print quality.

If you haven’t already, you’ll also need to download the specific ICC profile for Red River Aurora White 300 paper. This allows you to select Aurora 300 as the media type and helps ensure accurate color output. You can find the profile here:
