Hey there! I’ve been reading and swear I have everything set right but maybe I’m missing something.
I am on a MacBook with the latest version of iOS (I just updated it today 12.20.24 + downloaded the latest Driver for Canon that came out 12.14.24 I believe).
im stumped with using the Borderless Print. I have a document (not a picture) just a nice planner page I created and the doc has but borders on it. The actual size is 7 x 10, but I placed it on a letter size page including the cut borders so I can trim it down later. When I go to print, I choose letter size, print to scale at 100%, borderless. On the preview it shows my image centered, looks great. When it comes out the printer tho, it is no longer centered and it somehow enlarges the document. 🥹 I’m so flustered.

Have you tried printing without selecting borderless?

Hi yes when I print normal (without selecting borderless) then the image shrinks. I’m going to see if I don’t choose borderless and actual size if it works but I’m pretty sure I tried it before

I should add it’s the same issue whether it’s printing from Adobe or from Apples Preview program

Since borderless is generally used for photo printing it may not play well with document printing applications. That is why i asked about trying w/o borderless.

I truly appreciate your response because clearly borderless had something to do with it. So I made a note for myself, as I normally will use Borderless for images I’m printing but for years I’ve struggled with documents and finally decided to reach out. So definitely if printing documents, print at actual size with a border 😅

I suspect it is related to the algorithms used. Photos are continuous dots. Even if there is pure white there is a dot even if no ink is deposited. So the borderless algorithm just needs to slightly enlarge the image.
When there are no print regions of a document the printer just travels.
Maybe if you export your document as a PDF you could use borderless since PDFs act as images.

Thanks, I think for now I’ll work with the workaround we figured out. I was using it as both a PDF & also trying out of Preview but it just doesn’t seem to print well with Borderless in either case. So I’ll just print with a border at the actual size. At least I’ll get what I need 🙂

Wow ok so, yea I had to print with a border, and select actual size. I’m not sure why that vs custom scale set to 100% made a difference, or what changed from last night to this am that it somehow printed correctly and why choosing borderless, actual changes the orientation.
