Issues printing pink on PIXMA PRO-200

I have been using Canon Pixma Pro 100 up until a few days ago… but it's finally given up on me so I'm now using a Canon Pixma Pro 200. I'm having issues with printing the colour Pink. It comes out a very definite purple. I have downloaded the ICC profile for the paper I'm using and have ignored the printer settings and selected appropriate Photoshop settings instead. The only workaround I have found is to adjust the pink colour in Photoshop by changing the hue/ saturation. But this has meant a lot of experimenting and wasting a lot of good paper and ink. I have even tried printing from my desktop Mac (I had previously been printing wirelessly from my MacBook Air) and using the USB cable (after seeing a thread about USB printing. having better results). Both give the same purple colour instead of pink. Please tell me there is an easy solution? The Pro 100 just worked perfectly! I never had any issues with colours when using that printer.

1. have you run a nozzle check?

2. have you confirmed that you have the Canon IJ Series driver and not the Apple AirPrint driver?

Hi… I have made sure it's not using AirPrint (after seeing a lot of people suggesting this in other threads). But haven't tried a nozzle check. I will try this later today. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll update once Ive done this.

Hi KMaxB

I wondered if you found any answers to this query you posted about pinks coming out purple on the Canon Pixma Pro 200? I'm having the same issue and can't figure it out!  On the original colour test prints when I purchased the printer, the pinks came out nice and bright, but then as soon as I try proper prints from Photoshop, they're definitely duller and more purple. Thanks in advance if you have any tips!

Hi. Sadly I have yet to find a solution. At one stage my magenta ink was almost empty and I managed to achieve a better colour of print as a result. So whilst it helped with a couple of jobs, it was a very temporary fix. My previous Canon printer (Canon Pixma Pro 100) was brilliant. Just printed perfectly straight out the box. Didn't really have to change colour profiles, it just worked. Very frustrating.

Hi,

If the nozzle check is not printing correctly and nozzle cleanings are not resolving the issue, I recommend reaching out to Canon support. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks. Going to try today. Will let you know how I get on.

Download fee Canon Professional Print & Layout. It’s a standalone and plugin for Ps.
I don’t print from Ps so can’t help there, but I do see other posts where folks have difficulty with Ps printing.
