Ink for imagePROGRAF PRO-310 says not compatible

Hi all. I have a Prograf 310. I purchased replacement ink from Amazon.

It says Canon ink, not generic. When I tried to get support it redirected me to the Canon site.

The ink I purchased is the one below. When I installed it, I get an error code saying not compatible. I looked at the old cartridge and it says 5100 MBK. WHy is the new one not compatible?

Thanks

Hi, jjb777!  The only ink cartridges we show as being compatible with the imagePROGRAF PRO-310 are PFI-5100 cartridges.  If you received a 300 cartridge, it won't fit and won't work in your printer and we recommend contacting your dealer to get the right cartridge for the job.  You can also always order ink directly from us right HERE.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

Am I not understanding something when the ad says the following:

Again, when I click on support from the seller, it is redirected to THIS website.

You own an imagePROGRAF PRO-310 which uses 5100 cartridges.  The screenshot you provided is for the imagePROGRAF PRO-300 which uses 300 cartridges.  Despite their similarities, these are two different printer models and each one has unique ink needs.  Their ink cartridges are not interchangeable.  Hope that clears it up!

I think I understand now. Initially I was thinking 300 covered all 300 series.

Thank you.
