Printer is advising new firmware is available to download.
I currently have v2.010 installed.
I don't usually install firmware upgrades unless the specifically address issues that affect me. Plus, I don't ever upgrade firmware until it's been out a while and all the other "beta" testers have uncovered the possible flaws.
A search of the Canon 310 support page give me zero info on this firmware and a general internet search does not either.
Can someone tell me what this update does and/or if it has caused any issues?
Cheers,
Dan K.

Hi Dan! Thanks for contributing to the Canon Community.
The 2.020 firmware update has two purposes. First, it will improve print quality on glossy photo papers. It will also add two new media types, with the generic names of Photo Paper (Lightweight) A and Photo Paper (Lightweight) B.
Once firmware updates are available for download directly from the Canon website, that information is made public. Before that, however, the information is not posted anywhere. The printer only knows that a firmware update is available on Canon's servers.
The printer does normally notify you when a firmware update is available on Canon's servers. However, it will not update the firmware unless you go to the printer settings and select "Install Update." If you do not want to get the notifications, you can turn that feature off. If you change your mind or if you want to check for a firmware update, you can always turn the notification setting back on.
To turn the notification feature off, select "Various Settings" from the printer's menu, and then select "Printer Settings." After that, select "Firmware Update" and then select "Update Notification Setting." Once there, you can turn the setting off.
I hope this helps. Thanks again.
