Received my "Try My Photo" Pro-1 Print and immediately noticed the border was not uniform. The top was 23mm, bottom 22.5mm, left side 29mm, and right side 30mm.
A difference of 1mm is not a problem, it is the ~ 8mm difference between the top & bottom and sides.
Please tell me how I must crop the photo to get a uniform border 8x10 print.
Thanks
Ken

I have the Pro-100, but I would think approach is the same.
I crop to "paper size minus twice the border". In other words for 8x10 with 1/2 inch border crop to 7x9.

Hi John,
"I crop to "paper size minus twice the border". In other words for 8x10 with 1/2 inch border crop to 7x9." Thanks for the tip.
Any idea why my border was not uniform? I sent a standard 8x10 crop that worked for borderless 8x10 prints.
Any way I can test this before trying to print on a Pro-1?
Thanks again for your help.

What size paper are you printing your 8x10s on?

Hi John,
I am using FastStone IV v5.3 to do my 8x10 crops. http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm
Have never had a problem with borderless 8x10 prints (there is always a small amount of overscan but this can be anticipated and compensated for so final result has been correct.
Hate to waste good art paper so hope there is a way to test for border evenness.

Can't you use some cheap paper for set up?

Hi ebiggs1,
"What size paper are you printing your 8x10s on?" The 8x10 art paper provided by "Try My Photo".
As mentioned in original post, I decided use "Try My Photo" http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/production/products?pageKeyCode=pressreldetail&docId=0901e0248004d2ba to check a photo on "art paper".
Unfortunately the Pro-1 does not allow borderless printing on "art paper"
Since posting did some searching and found: "When I looked at the Canon 9500 Mk2 printer, the biggest issue for me was the huge top and bottom margins imposed on some media types. Unfortunately this feature persists into the PRO-1.
Given that I like printing some of my B&W images on cotton rag papers, the mandatory 35mm margins are most unwelcome. Look at how much of the page below is truncated on an A3 sized print - it makes printing on small paper sizes (say cards) completely impractical, if you use good quality art paper."

If you check the photo mentioned it has the non uniform border I mentioned.

"Can't you use some cheap paper for set up?" Do not know?
Had hoped to get some guidance from Canon technical but only got the standard: "Manipulating the image and the settings will require trial and error on your part. However, the PIXMA PRO-1 does include the Easy-PhotoPrint EX application which has an option to print with even borders when using a bordered layout. You can learn more about this feature by downloading, installing and viewing the PIXMA PRO-1 On-screen manual. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you for choosing Canon. Sincerely,..."
