ERROR 1340 Canon Pro-1000 setup

I am trying to set up my new Canon Pro-1000. I am stopped by Error 1340 because it doesn't like where I am trying to set it up. Only problem is that it is securely on top of a solid oak cabinet. Now, my house is over 100 years old and not exactly level, but really? What do I do?

Is the surface of the cabinet smooth? Or would there be any issue with ink stopper as shown by this Error 1340 link?

The surface would have to be pretty uneven for the ink stopper sensor to engage as Ricky's reference article points out.  You might wiggle the sensor a little and make sure it doesn't have any packing tape or material keeping it from working properly.

You can also call Canon, they would be happy to assist you.
