Canon Pro 1 Firmware update 1.3 problem: help please...

Hi there,

Firstly thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post!

I have Canon Pixma Pro 1 printer in use for about 3 years now, and am really happy with the results of it!

However yesterday I noticed a firmware update V1.3 that upgrades the firmware to V2.1.

What I did is:

0. I disconnected the LAN-cable and turned the printer off and on again.

1. I connected the printer via an USB-cable to my Surface (Windows 10 64B) and started the update utility.

2. The utility reads: actual firmware: V2.01 - upgrade to V2.1

3. I press start.

4. The white power button led starts flashing a few times...

5. Then the paperfeed button starts to blink orange (slowly).

6. Nothing happens in the update utility, and after about 5-10 minutes it shows a popup: "The printer cannot be found".

=> I noticed a strange Win 10 popup window saying "Installing device" that stalls at about 5%.

What I tried:

1. Another USB-cable.

2. Another laptop (also Win 10 64B)

3. Reinstalling the printer drivers and retrying the firmware update utility.

=> In all cases the results stay the same: nothing happening in the update utility (upload progress bar stays empty) and the paperfeed button led blinking slowly orange... Lateron a kind of timeout...

Does anyone has had a similar problem and preferably has found a solution?

Thank you very much in advance!

Sincere greetings,

Peter.

To answer my own question:

The answer is in the docs :-o.

Fyi: if you get the error, you first have to install the driver included in the update archive and during the driver installation you have to cancel it at the connection choice (yes, you have to cancel it ;-)).

Afterwards the update works correctly...
