LDAP is not working with new imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4925i

I have a Cannon iR-ADV 4925 on Controller :1608.0.3701 and LDAP is working. We have a new one that came in and LDAP is not working and it's on Controller :1629.0.3701. How can I downgrade the Controller version, or can anyone confirm that higher version is working. I am asking because in the pas an older version also had a similar issue.

Thanks for any help

This is a user-based social media site and not official Canon support.  As this is a group of mostly non-commercial users I think your question is most likely going to be best directed to your Canon Business Solution rep or perhaps the Canon reseller that you purchased the unit from.

You might get lucky here - I hope you do, but wanted to point you in the right direction, just in case.

>> Owns/Owned both Canon EOS mirrorless full-frame and APS-C cameras and associated RF, RF-S and EF adapted lenses - inventory tends to change on short notice. Same for flashes, tripods, bags, straps, etc.
Plus>> Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 Printer. My photos are edited using Canon Photo Professional and no Adobe products.
>>The opinions and assistance are my own. Please don't blame Canon for any mistakes on my part.

Before you roll it back, though I'd definitely verify LDAP settings are the same on both severs, and if they are, newer versions of controllers are notorious for issues such as this, especially if this is a recurring problem.

Update: we did reach out to the suppler as well as Cannon and have not heard anything back from either. Since this happened in an old Controller release as well, I thought I would see if anyone else was having this issue.

Troubleshooting LDAP Issues with imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4925i

Check Firewall Settings

Ensure that the Windows Server firewall is not blocking communication with the LDAP server. Specifically, verify the following ports:

Port Number Purpose
53 DNS communication
389 LDAP server communication

If these ports are blocked, you will need to allow traffic through them to enable proper communication.

Verify LDAP Server Configuration

Make sure that the LDAP server settings are correctly configured in the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4925i. Here are the key steps to check:

  1. Register the LDAP Server:

    • Access the settings on the device.
    • Navigate to Set Destination and select Register LDAP Server.
    • Enter the necessary information, including the server name and IP address.
  2. Authentication Settings:

    • Ensure that the authentication information is correctly set up, including the username and password.
    • If using Windows Server, the username format should be (Windows domain name)\(Windows user name).
  3. Search Configuration:

    • Specify the position to start the search in the directory tree.
    • For LDAPv3, this can often be skipped as the machine retrieves settings automatically.
  4. Connection Check:

    • Use the Check Connection feature after entering the settings to confirm that the device can communicate with the LDAP server.
