How to connect M40 scanner to imagePROGRAF TM-305 or TX-3200

Can I ask for help on how to connect the M40 scanner to the TM-305 or TX-3200 plotter? They mention SmartWorks MFP 5.4 software, but I can't find it?

I'm honestly out of my depth on this topic but noticed it had gone without answer.  First, what are you really trying to do here?  You have a scanner and a plotter and you're trying to connect the two to do, what, exactly?   I'm guessing you mean hook them both up to the same computer?  By "they" I'm assuming you entered your title into Google and got this AI result below?

A similar Google search shows that SmartWorks 5 is at https://mfpdownload.com/MFP5.  I hope this is helpful, as your post is somewhat confusing.

Connecting a Colortrac M40 scanner to a Canon imagePROGRAF TM-305 or TX-3200 plotter involves physical assembly using the MFP stand and software configuration to ensure compatibility. The M40 scanner typically ships with older SmartWorks MFP v4, but the TM/TX series requires SmartWorks v5.4.

Step 1: Physical Setup
  1. Assemble the Stand: Use the M40 MFP stand to position the scanner directly above the TM-305 or TX-3200 printer.
  2. Connect Scanner to PC: Connect the M40 scanner to the All-in-One (AIO) PC or workstation using the supplied USB 3.0 cable.
  3. Connect Printer to PC: Connect the TM-305 or TX-3200 plotter to the same PC/workstation using a USB cable (or via LAN).
  4. Connect System: Ensure all components are connected and powered on.

Step 2: Software Configuration (Essential)
Because the M40 scanner and TM/TX printers have different software requirements, you must upgrade the software to connect them properly.
  1. Uninstall Old Software: On the AIO PC, uninstall SmartWorks MFP v4.
  2. Install Printer Driver: Download and install the latest Windows Printer Driver for the TX or TM Series from the Canon website.
  3. Install New Software: Download and install SmartWorks MFP v5.4.
  4. License Dongle: Insert the required license dongle that came with the scanner into the PC.
  5. Start Software: Open SmartWorks MFP v5.4, which should now recognize both the M40 scanner and the Canon printer.

Important Notes
  • Compatibility: The M40 supports the TM-300/305 and TX-3000/4000 series.
  • Default Settings: Ensure the printer is set as the default printer on the PC.
  • Network: If not using USB, ensure the printer is configured with a valid IP address on the network.
  • Scanning: Use the green button on the scanner to start scanning, or use the touch screen interface.
If the scanner does not appear in the software, verify the USB connections and ensure the license dongle is active.
