Error generating Cert Key on Canon imageRUNNER ADV C5030

Whenever I try to create a new cert, I get the following error, "An error has occurred when generating the key."  I have tried different combinations of years and location fields in case that was an issue.  A technitian came out to look at it from the company that services this and another newer printer.  He said it's just too old and possibly isn't able to connect to the servers to create the cert.  I understand this mode is old but is that really true?  I'm asking the network team to verify if the firewall is blocking any ports.
