Hello!

So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know more information.

What is the exact model printer you're using (it's usually on the top or front of the unit)?
Do you see any error messages?

Hello Arthur,

Thank you for the suggestions.

Canon Imageprograf PRO-310

Since I sent first message I've been able to install latest downloads: driver, software, PPL. It might have been a "nationality" problem that prevented previous attempts. But even with the fresh updates I'm still not getting good to screen match in b&w. The prints are too light and so is the digital image in PPL. I have made tests using test images and they look good. I'm baffled.

Also, the printer sometimes won't turn off. It just keeps blinking. What is this?

Download this test image

Open it in your editor and print it. Do not make any adjustments, regardless of how it looks on the monitor.

How does the print look?

Thank you John.

I don't know how to download the test page by itself. Only know how to download the entire page. And I have some similar test images from Keith Cooper's website and they print well - both color and b&w.  Am stumped. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Richard

PS- Any chance you might be available for a lesson via phone for a customary fee ?

The test image prints look good and the monitor display and prints look close? If you print from your editing software without PP&L are the prints good?

I have a Pro-100. It can use the predecessor to PP&L but I never found a reason to use it. I print directly from Lightroom.

Have you color and grayscale calibrated your monitor or monitors? Just type calibrate in Windows search and follow the very precise steps.

John,

The test images, both color and b&w both print well in PPL. I shall now try printing from PS.

Thank you.

Richard

Hi Derrick.

Thank you for your message.

I have calibrated my iMac with a SpyderXPro.

But I don't know if the Pro-310 is calibrated? How do I determine that? And if it needs calibrating how is that done?

Richard

If the test images print well, meaning blacks and whites are good and colors look true, but your own image doesn’t look good then you would need to look for differences. Do you have a known good print of your image?
