We installed the printer driver on Windows 10 x64 device, the printer works but when we start the scan software scan utility it keeps saying "A scanner driver supporting this software is not installed. Install it and try again." . We tried multiple time reinstall and reboot, but nothing works.

Greetings,

I've installed like drivers on several Windows 10 systems. I own the MF644 and MF656 personally.  I've supported image runner devices in multiple Enterprise environments as well.

I might have had a problem once or twice with with the scanner driver not functioning but never encountered an installation failure.  It might not have worked but it always installed.  Then it was typically a matter of getting it to run.  On those instances where there was a yellow triangle in device manager, usually updating the drivers on the device entry would get it going.  In general, Windows 10 was a pretty solid OS.  The MF drivers that included scan gear and the scan utility v1.21.0.2 was all that I've ever used.  The scan utility was upgraded from .1 to.2 about 10 months apart.

Do you work in IT?  In these situations, after an adequate amount of troubleshooting time was spent, I would have my staff reimage the OS and restore user data.  I'm sure if you took another Windows 10 system and tried to install the drivers they would work.  Pulling your hair out, trying to figure out why it won't on this one system is not worth your time.  If not already implemented, back up their user data. We had system images and could reimage the device and restore data in record time.  We had loaners to minimize user downtime.  A few of the data scientist's systems required a little more planning, but they could be re-imaged quickly as well.  Don't waste your time.  Whatever it is, I'm sure it's something quirky but if you haven't figured out what it is by now, you're probably not going to.  Another option is contacting Canon support 1-800-652-2666, but I get the sense that you're advanced enough to have tried everything they might be able to recommend.

Since W10 is EOL, what about migrating the user to Windows 11.  Is there something specific that they have that won't run under Windows 11?

I think you need to be done with this and on to the next adventure. 😉
