imageCLASS MF731Cdw - How to revert to original Firmware and drivers

HarryZeg

My prints are there very light, faded.  Onboard printer options to repair will not work.  Printer panel says it can't fix.  I think this all happened when I updated the firmware and installed newer drivers.  Are there instructions how to revert ot the original firmware and drivers to see if they are a fix.

Thanks, HarryZ

Hi!

To have a better understanding of your issue, please let everyone know the printer model you’re working with along with any other information you think might be helpful for the Community to know.

Sorry Samantha.

I am so disturbed with my MF731CDW's queer behavior and my frustration trying to resolve its problems I forgot to tell you the obvious, the model number.

Here is what I asked:   My prints are there very light or faded.  Onboard printer options to repair itself will not work.  Printer panel says it can't fix.  I think this all happened when I updated the firmware and installed newer drivers.  Are there instructions HOW TO REVERT TO THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE and DRIVERS to see if they are a fiX.

I am not finding my original CDs and would appreciate being told which are the files online at the printer's download page.

Thank you for your help and guidance,  HarryZeg

Hi HarryZeg,

Firmware downgrades are not officially supported by Canon.  Here's what I suggest.  Your MF731Cdw has a 3 yr warranty.  Start by registering the device in your MyCanon portal to see your support options.   After registering I would contact support.

All drivers for your printer are available on its support portal.

You may want to consider resetting the device as a first step.  I'd also make a quick sweep of my printer driver properties and ensure you haven't inadvertently changed a setting and saved those as the default.  I have two Canon lasers and I've updated the firmware on both many, many times.  I print from Windows, Mac, IOS, and Android.  I use Canon toners and get consistent results.
