imageCLASS MF465dw Need help setting up Remote UI

mkoslosk

I just bought an ImageClass MF465dw. When I set it up, it didn't appear that I need remote UI, so it didn't set it up intiially. Now when I try to scan it's telling me that "email/I-fax settings are not configured in Remote UI" and to contact an administrator. I've searched the manual high and low, but I can't figure out how to go back and set up Remote UI. All I need this to do is print and scan, so if you could help me get that set up it would be wonderful. Thanks.

Greetings,

Here are some general guidelines.

You are not required to set up access to the remote Ui

You can scan from the printers LCD, from a computer or the Canon Print app

I would however recommend you set up access, here's why.  The remote UI gives you access to enhanced configuration and features.  Examples are Scan to Email, Scan to Destination (folder or network destination), an address book and one touch functions enhancing the user experience.

In order to provide more details, we need some additional information.  What operating system version and build are you using the printer with?  How is the printer connected, and to what?  What software did you install to support the device?

Here is a link to the support portal for your printer.

Here is information about the remote UI

Happy to provide more details with your input.

I'm using Windows 11 home, version 24H2. I used the recommended drivers from the Canon site. There were three that were recommended. Master setup, MF Scan Utility, and Windows 64 bit MFDrivers. The printer is connected wirelessly and prints just fine. I did go through this documentation  and set the administrator PIN (based on the article you recommended). Again, I'd like to now set up Remote UI, but I can't find anything in the documentation that addresses this if you didn't do it during setup. (Scan to email is a must for me.)

Greetings,

Thanks for your reply.  You've installed the correct drivers.  MF Print driver that includes ScanGear and the MF Scan Utility v1.21.0.2.  The Master Setup is not required, but it doesn't hurt that you've installed it.

Please confirm you are able to open the MF Scan Utility?

Optional but recommended.  Log into the admin portal of your router and look at the list of attached devices.  Note the IP address assigned to the printer.  I recommend assigning a static IP to your printer so it always uses the same IP.

Otherwise, open a browser (any) and enter the IP address in the address bar (at top) and press enter.  The log in for the remote UI will display.  Select the System Manager radio button and enter the PIN you set.  Press log in. Example my printers IP is 192.168.1.99

Let me know the name of the mail host you intend to use and I'll try to provide the settings for you.

I tried this based on the manual, but when it got to the address it told me I needed Remote UI.

Unfortunately im now on vacation (away from the printer), so I can't try this again until next weekend. Please don't close the ticket.

I'm back and halfway caught up. Yes, I can open the scan utility.

Now I can't even print; I'm getting an error message when I try to. I'm also not seeing a print location anymore. I had one before I left, but when I navigate to printers and scanners, the printer is not showing an IP address. I'm wondering if my best be might be to just uninstall the printer and try again?

I've now uninstalled everything, reset the MFP and have started over, then rebooted everything. The drivers I installed are MF460SeriesMFDriverV7851W64 and winmfscanutilityv12102 (both zipped folders). I can now print, but when I try to scan to email, I'm getting a message that says that my scan/fax settings aren't set up. I've tried using the online manual but find it very difficult to navigate. I did select to use Remote UI, but nowhere did I see how to do any setup other than add a PIN. What am I missing now?

Greetings ,

Adding a system manager PIN is exactly what you want to do.

As noted above, did that when I set up Remote UI, but I'm still getting the error message saying that my scan/fax settings aren't set up. I'm not sure where in the system to go about that.
