PIXMA TS6002 "Printer Not Connected" error

Just bought this printer. Set it the wireless connection on each of two laptops. t worked fine the first time. The next day when we tried to print from either printer, we get a "Printer not connected" error. We went through the add printer steps as described in the manual again. Again they worked, but the next day got the same error. So noe we need to either figure this out or return the printer. Any help will be appreciated.

OK, I found the terminal and got this:

Michaels-MacBook-Air-2:~ michaelburns$ ping whateverIPaddressyouwant

ping: cannot resolve whateverIPaddressyouwant: Unknown host

In Utilies there is also a folder for the Canon IJ. I am going to install again (for the third time!) and go to that Utility to see if I can figure out how to make it have a static IP address

When you are pinging a device,,  you have to specify the IP...  the IP of my printer is 192.168.1.99....  When I ping it, it replies.

C:\Users\admin>ping 192.168.1.99

Pinging 192.168.1.99 with 32 bytes of data:

Ping statistics for 192.168.1.99:

the >ipconfig /all

command ( and there is a space between the ipconfig and forwad slash) ....  gives you the information I referenced previously.  Your gateway IP address is probably going to be one of these. Guessing, but pretty sure.

192.168.1.1

192.168.0.1

 or

10.0.1.1

10.0.0.1

You can confirm using the command above to see the output.  But one of those 4 entered into your browser wil likely get you to the log in for your router.

when I did the ping 192.168.0.1 it pinged (the router? and gave me the time over and over until I stopped with control-C. Then I tried this:

usage: ipconfig <command> <args>

where <command> is one of waitall, getifaddr, ifcount, getoption, getpacket, getv6packet, set, setverbose

In this day of plug and play devices I am amazed that this is happening

If you were here you would have figured it out instantly I think.

On the printer home screen there is an ico for settings. There was a little box that said "new" and it indicated that the printer did not have the latest firmware. Once that was downloaded it worked fine.
