PIXMA MG5420 won't print wirelessly

I'm losing my mind.  I got my PIXMA MG5420 to print wirelessly, then something happened and I lost the connection. now I can't remember what I did last time to get it to print wirelessly.

Using Window 8 as operating system, port is USB001 virtual printer port. Used the operating panel of printer to connect WLAN to router by simultaneously pressing WPS on router and OK button on machine, says they are connected, yet my laptop says printer is offline/not connected.

Can anyone tell me how to reconnect my HP laptop to my printer?  I'm just so freaking done with this printer.

Your printer is connected to the network, but you need to connect your computer to the printer via wifi.

If it says USB then it is connected via USB.

Reinstall the printer to print wirelessly.

Here are some Canon PDFs to help you.

Uninstalled, reinstalled with CD, took several tries and had to connect via USB in order to get computer to detect printer.
