My Macbook Air can print but can not scan from my MX450

I don't know what else to say.  This is very very frustrating.

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the PIXMA MX450 series.  The model number appears on the front of the printer at the lower right. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

What version of macOS?

You may have the Apple AirPrint driver which only allows printing if your macOS is newer than Mojave.
