Greetings,

Microsoft has released a patch which is said to address the scanning failures windows 11 users are experiencing after feature release 24H2 is applied.  Many people have reported issues using ScanGear and the MF Scan Utility.

KB5048667 should download automatically from Windows Update.  If you want to apply the patch manually, you can visit the Windows Update Catalog, download the run the patch yourself.

As of today (February 27th, 2025) Windows 24H2 still causes scanner failure. Additionally, this appears to be happening with other scanner manufactures, not just Canon. Clearly a Windows problem. There is absolutly no way that SOMEONE that works for Microsoft hasn't also experienced this and reported it, which means MS doesn't give 2 sh*ts about its consumers and figures we will just have to wait until they are ready to release a fix. 😞

Windows 11 Canon Scanner Issue After Fresh Install of Drivers
-------------------------------------------------------------
From Dale_1973 on 12-23-2024

1. Run Device Manager, expand Imaging devices.
2. Right <click> your device, <click> Disable Device.
3. Right <click> on it again and select "Update driver" then select "Browse my computer for drivers."

4. Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer."
5. Select your printer model, then NEXT.
6. After a successful re-installation of your drivers, <click> CLOSE.
7. reBOOT System (required).

This workaround seems to have worked for all those who have tried it... YMMV.

Thanks a lot for getting my hopes up!  (I say that jokingly)

Unfortunately, this did NOT work for my Canon MF414.

Thanks anyway.   If you stumble upon any other suggested fixes somewhere, please let me (us) know!!

Just so everyone is aware, it now appears that NordVPN breaks scanner functionality too when connected to VPN.
