Latest version of My Image Garden (dated 5.1.2024) fails during installation. I have an MX-922 printer and am attempting to install on Windows 10 (up to date).

See attached screen capture below.  Where is the setup log (if any) that has details of the cause?

Hi BearGFR! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that you have an MX922 and you are unable to install the My Image Garden software on your Windows 10 computer.

The setup program for the My Image Garden program does not keep a log that contains information dealing with the failure. It is written as a single use program for the sole purpose of installing My Image Garden. If it fails to install, a message pops up right away, it is not filed in a log.

It is possible that your computer keeps a log that has more details about the issue that keeps occurring. You can contact Microsoft or your computer manufacturer to see if a log like that exists on your computer.

The message you are getting mentions that an error occurred while files were being copied.

You can try restarting your computer to see if it helps. If you already tried that or if that does not help, you can check If there is enough room on your hard drive. If there is insufficient memory, a different error would normally pop up, but there is a slight possibility that this message can pop up in its place. My Image Garden is a big program and does take up a lot of memory on your computer.

The setup program for My Image Garden will create and then copy files to the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\My Image Garden\cnmigmain.exe

It may be a security setting or program causing this problem. We have seen cases where a security program cuts off access to that folder and other cases where a security program disables the setup program (named mig_-win-3_6_4a-ea31_2.exe). If your computer does have security software installed, I recommend that you contact the program’s developer and see if they can help you create an exception for the setup program so that it can copy the files to your computer.

For more details, you can visit the following web article:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/ART174139

If you do not have security software installed on your computer, I recommend contacting Microsoft or your computer manufacturer so they can check if a security setting on the computer is preventing the files from being copied over.

You can also try installing Easy-Photo Print Editor instead. That program is much smaller. It does have a lot of the same photo printing options. It does not have a scanning option, but you can use the IJ Scan Utility for scanning instead of My Image Garden.

I hope this information helps. Thanks again.

If the suggestions from JayC1 don't resolve your issue you could try a registry cleaning using the free version of CCleaner.
