Canon Pro-1100 not working with Canon Professional Print Layout

IanB2024

hi, brand new user to forum.  Cannot find a thread covering this

Mac user, Macbook M4 Sequoia 15.2

Just purchased a Printer Pro-1100

Installed and updated firmware on printer 1.020

Installed latest Professional Print Layout

When finding the printer on initial setup, the software displays - this printer is not registered with PPL - exiting PPL (it finds the printer)

how can I get the PPL to see this printer - printer is connected on wifi and has printed a test print - just a word doc

Hi Ian.

Since you cannot print photos from Preview or CaptureOne the problem you are having would seem to be related to the printer and not PP&L specifically.

I noticed you said bonjour printer. Are you sure that the installed printer device is using the Canon IJ Series driver? Try deleting the printer and re-adding it. When you select the add icon wait until the Canon IJ Series version of the printer appears. It can take several minutes and will usually appear after the Apple AirPrint version of the driver appears.

When you say latest version of PP&L is it version 1.6?

Good morning, thanks for answering, I downloaded that version off the website today. Version is 1.6

Same issue, thanks for posting. Just bought an 1100 yesterday here in Seattle and haven't printed one photo yet.

Printer on the network, visible to PPL (v 1.6), it even fetches the current media settings from the printer. But click PRINT and its the same error message every time. "Look at your printer panel or web UI." Printer never records an incoming job, never records an error, it just sits there saying "Ready to print." I can print from any other application -- Word, Adobe, Notes -- it's just PPL that fails.

Spent two hours on chat with support today, and now there's a case in my name on the books. Any suggestions appreciated, I've got time to try things. I don't think support will be looking at my case until Tuesday. But just saying, if it's "uninstall and reinstall printer/PPL," I've already done that a half-dozen times today. Think I'll go work on my jigsaw puzzle, it's easier.

Have you installed the Canon CUPS driver?

Yes, v.29.1

Yes, same version V29.1. I can see it in the driver software in the printer setup. thanks

Thanks for that, I am the same but I can print a test page from MS Word to the printer but all print jobs from any photo application just disappear

Do you mean that printing from Apple Photos or Preview doesn't work, in addition to PP&L?

hi John,

thats correct, I can print to the printer using Word, but when I try and print from Preview, or from CaptureOne that I use for photo editing then nothing happens.

the setup I was aiming for was to use PP&L for printing - thats the advice I got, but I cannot configure that as it will not recognise the 1100 printer.  It sees it on the network, but then when I select either the bonjour printer or the IP address, then it reverts this printer is not registered with PPL. I am wondering is PP&L updated yet for the printer as it is relatively new?
