Can't connect my PIXMA TR4520 to my T-mobile home internet

hello community, I've downloaded the driver and followed the instructions for the wifi set up but it always errors out and not able to connect with the Tmobile home internet.  I have no problem connecting my printer to the Spectrum router.  what am i missing that I'm not able to connect with my new Tmobile router?

Canon does not make a printer model TR450.  I think this is a typo and you have a 4500 series.

How many bands does the T-Mo router have?  Is it 2.4 and 5G?  Or 5G 0nly.

The 4500 series printers support a 2.4GHz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption.

How many bands does the T-Mo router have?  Is it 2.4 and 5G?  Or 5G 0nly.

the model is actually TR4520 and T-Mo router has both 2.4 and 5G and the frequency is set as automatic.

I was able to connect my printer by changing the broadcast and the encryption - thanks so much for that.

QQ, if I change the broadcast and the encryption back to where it was originally, will the connection of my printer drop?

Would appreciate your advise.

Hi

The printer needs a 2.4 GHz broadcast that supports WPA2.  If the router offers an encryption settings such as WPA3/WPA2 that would support backwards compatibility you could use that, but the printer will not connect to a broadcast that uses WPA3 only.

Conversely, many routers use the same SSID name for all their broadcasts.  2.4/5G/6G, etc.  sometimes this can cause connection issues so giving each broadcast a unique name can help with that.  Dual and tri-band routers often use a feature called bandwidth steering that allows them to determine which broadcast a device connects to.  Unfortunately, the one it chooses may not be the best for a specific situation.  Using unique names gives you the ability to choose which broadcast a device connects to.  This lets you put slower devices or devices that need greater range on the 2.4Ghz broadcast.  (Printers, Thermostats, etc) and higher bandwidth devices like like TVs, video conferencing, etc on 5G for better streaming, audio performance, etc.
