question on filters again

nan156
Enthusiast

Several filters came with my sx500 the only one i put on was the UV and only because I wanted to protect the orginal lens. I am now wondering if since I had to use an adaptor to connect the UV filter that it may not be a good thing. Any comments?

Hi Nan156,

Thank you for your reply.

Canon does not offer a filter adapter for the PowerShot SX500 IS.

If you do have the PowerShot SX500 IS, I recommend double-checking with your dealer to ensure that the filter adapter is compatible with this camera model.  If they can provide a manufacturer for the filter, I recommend double-checking with them for assistance in mounting the filter and adapter.

A bad thing 'cos of the adaptor ring? Or the UV filter or both? Which one of the 3 options?

Hi Nan156,

Thank you for posting.

The lens on your camera was not designed to accept a filter and Canon does not recommend the use of third-party accessories with its cameras.
