my powershot SX500 IS is reading "memory card error".  I have removed the the memory card & battery, then put them back in to try.  still reads memory card error

found the problem. This is the memory card that came with the camera. Still.... it needed to be reformatted them set the camera format setting on low. Very strange that a new camera should not come out of the box with correct settings & ready to use memory card.
