SX720 not connect to Apple El Capitan - cable

ralfellis

It seems that the SX720 I have just bought, will not connect to Apple El Capitan (10.11).  There is not even a Driver for this function.

I would be happy to connect via a cable, but have failed to achieve this.  I presume it is the upper connector (data cable).  I have plugged this in, but my computer does nothing. (But the camera charges, so there is a connection).

How do I transfer photo images?

Also - what does the lower connector do?  I have not found a connector that will fit, so what is this connector called?

Run image capture.

Are you sure that it is a data USB cable and not a charging only abomination.

The lower connector is probably a mini-HDMI to connect a TV or monitor.

You also have the option of removing the memory card from the camera and using a card reader with your Mac.

Thanks KV.  You were right.

But now I am confused.  The cable out of the Canon box would only charge.  So I tried a cable from another product, and it worked.  So why are Canon sending out 'charge only' cables with their camera??

Makes no sense. Anyway, seems to work now.

Thanks,   RE.

Where did you buy the camera?  It was discontinued a number of years ago.  Did you buy a used or refurbished camera?
