At the moment my Canon R5 will not connect via Wi-Fi with Zoom. It will only work using the provided USB-C to USB-C cable (1 meter) that came with the camera. Therefore the following questions. First, any chance Canon will do a firmware update to resolve this problem? Secondly, I would like to know if the Canon IFC-400U USB-C to USB-C interface able (approximately 13 ft?) will work with using the camera for Zoom or Google Meet software programs?

I "think" I found the "solution". I opened the Canon EOS Webcam Utility and clicked on "Settings", "Wireless Cameras" and then "Reconnect". I followed the instructions on the Dialogue box and opened the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Connection menu under the "Wireless" Icon and then it brought up my name and tapped on that, and then it searched and connected the camera to the Webcam Utility. After that, I closed out the Utility, opened Zoom, chose EOS Webcam Utility Pro as the camera, and it brought up the picture. This process will require some repetition before I will be able to "trust" it. But, right now, I guess the process is, open the Webcam Utility, choose Wireless Cameras, click on Reconnect and then go to the camera itself to complete the Reconnection process. Then, finally go to Zoom. Not the smoothest procedure, but for the moment, it worked.

To answer your first question. "Any chance Canon will release firmware to "fix", change or modify this behavior? Unlikely because its not a "problem". To confirm, we need more information to understand your use case.
Are you trying to connect your PC and camera to the same wireless network for communication or are you trying to connect your computer directly to the camera's Wi-Fi broadcast (ad-hoc)?
Cable connection: For fastest performance you would want to use a USB-C cable that is one meter or less. Performance would degrade as the length increased, and anything above 5-6ft ft could be unusable for video depending on the cable qualty/type.
I will nvestigate further once you answer the questions above. 🙂

I followed the instructions given for connecting the camera to my home network in order to connect with the Canon EOS Webcam Utility Pro by WiFi, and the camera did, in fact, connect wirelessly. However, no image appeared, only the EOS Webcam Utility Logo (if you want to call it that). Anyway, the camera said it was "connected". No picture, however. As I said, the EOS Webcam Utility Pro (paid version) said the camera was "connected" but no picture. What is your answer?

I created a Microsoft Word document outlining each of the steps I need to take to "Reconnect" the camera with the Webcam Utility each time I am going to participate in a Zoom meeting. Once the Wi-Fi is set up, there are only a couple of steps to take on the camera menu to reconnect, and the Webcam Utility will then show the camera is connected. I also learned it is very important to "close" the Webcam Utility once the Wi-Fi signal is "Connected" as only one app can be open, otherwise there is a conflict. So, I close the Webcam Utility, open Zoom, select the Webcam Utility Pro as the camera selection, and after about a second or so, the image appears on the computer screen. Really nice not to have to be able to be connected by a cable, which restricts moving around. I also have remote microphones, with the receiver being plugged into the laptop, and the microphone clipped to my clothing. So, that's about it.
