SX710 HS won't connect using canon connect

Stumbleinn

Hello I am trying to connect my SX710HS to my phone (Android Version 15) Using the latest Canon Connect Ap (3.4.10.12. After starting the camera by pressing the Wifi button, I connect the phone to the SSID of the camera.  Next I start the Ap.  My only option here is to click the Register your camera button (all other options are grayed out.  So I try and register a new camera.  I search and find the SX710HS icon click it and am presented with a connection method selection of NFC or Wifi.  The NFC selection says Android doesn't support this.  When I select Wifi I am told to operate the camera and when I follow those directions they don't match the camera at all.  Since the phone is already connected to the camera access point network, I click the camera is ready check box and I get the screen which shows me I am connected to the SSID of the camera with nothing to click or select.  And from there I can only go back to the previous screen or click close which puts me back to Register your camera.

Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks

Hi Stumbleinn,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues connecting your camera and phone. Once the phone is on the network open the Canon Camera Connect app. Once the app is open in the top left will be a camera icon with a plus sign. Touch that icon, select your camera model, choose Wi-Fi Connection, put a check mark next to “Camera is now ready to connect”, and touch Next. On the next screen the app will detect the camera and show a pop up showing it detected the camera.

In the prompt select the name of the camera and now on the back of the camera it will ask if you want to connect to the smart phone. Select Okay and the connection will be established.
