PowerShot SD850 IS Lens stuck out.

My Canon PowerShot SD850 IS lens is stuck in the out position. Turning it on, it just clicks and I get an error that reads "Lens error, restart camera".

I've checked for debris clogging things up and tried recharging the battery. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've had the camera since new and really like it, so I'd like to fix it if possible

Thanks,

Sean

Welcome.

Sometimes the extended lens gets bumped ands gets skewed.

Look carefully at the lens from the top and from the side. Does the lens look like it is crooked? If so, gently press in the opposing direction to straighten it out.

If that isn't the problem then repair or replacement would be recommended.

From the website I can check it doesn't look like Canon will service that product any more.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PowerShot SD850 IS is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!
