Powershot G2 Keeps getting a cf card error

I recently bought a used Powershot G2, however everytime I take a picture I'll get a cf card error and the light keeps flashing green. I've tried 2 different CF cards and the camera did the same for both.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The G2 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

What brand, model and capacity of CF card are you using? Some older model cameras may have problems dealing with cards larger than 16gb or 32gb. Also, have you deep formatted the CF card in the camera?

CF card slots have a lot of very delicate pins forming an array at the bottom.  If a CF card is not slotted in straight, it can result in a bent or broken pin, which will definitely give you an error with any card that is used thereafter.
Can you please check and see if any of the pins are bent or missing?
Beware of trying to push a bent pin back, they can easily break off and that is going to be almost certainly unrecoverable, considering the age of the camera.  Any repair requiring a technician is liable to cost more than the camera is worth, considering it was released in 2001.
