I have a new Canon powershot g7x Mark III. Before shooting I charged my battery. I bought SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC, UHS-I card, 128 GB, 200/90. Having shot 7-8 shots my camera froze, the screen got green light on it. I pushed the button to turn it off, it did in a few seconds but its zoom objective got out again. Then I pressed e.g. the INFO button on the camera and it got frozen again. Then pressing the button did not work and the camera went off with the objective protruding. Today, I actually did not take any photos and it got frozen as soon as I pressed the INFO button. A few days ago when I had similar freezing event I took a few photos and they got recorded w/o issues. That day I used the flash and when such freezing occurred I noticed a red light on. Later I read that the red light can indicate recording of info to the memory card was on-going but, in the meantime, it can also indicate as if some problems too. Can anyone advise why it happens and what should I make to fix it ?

Hello Addy-72,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your camera. You may want to try cleaning the contacts on the charger and battery especially, with a clean, dry, microfiber cloth to ensure good communication between them. You can also clean the contacts on the memory card with the microfiber cloth as well. Have you been able to test the camera with a different battery and memory card? You can try that if applicable. I would definitely suggest trying a different memory card at least. The freezing could be caused by the camera having difficulties communicating properly with the card. Are there any errors or messages that appear on the camera?
Let's try a hard reset of the camera. Remove the battery and memory card. Close the compartments and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then, follow up with these next steps. Go ahead and put the battery back in only. Make sure it has a good charge. Try the camera again. If the problem persists, then the camera will need to be serviced.

Thx John! Sorry for delay in my response. I yet to follow your guidance. But should I maybe Format my card ? In settings there is FORMAT function and I saw in the manual statement that any card (new or used) should be formatted. Should I try it 1st and if does not help proceed with your instruction on 30 sec hold power button ?? - pls advise
FYI - battery must be brand new as I then just unpacked a new Canon. Card - I bought a new packed one either. When I have such glitches like freezing after a few minutes of using the camera (either just watching photos or shooting) there is no any notification on screen. Pls advise on my above query re Formatting as the 1st check
